  1. You cabinet looks wonderful. I love Bonni's linens. The dishes are lovely! Mike's flatware is so gorgeous.
I see you have fun arranging things for photo shoots too. One of my favorite things to do.

    1. Hi Catherine, yes these photo shoots are all part of my enjoyment of miniatures. I even enjoy editing ;-) I would love to be more adept at photoshop, illustrator etc. but since Adobe has made it so expensive to have a membership to their services, I'm afraid that that's not going to be for me. And my ancient program which I bought, you know, in a real shop ;-) doesn't run on our new computers any more.

I just bought a lot of spools of silk and cotton for warping and weaving on the loom I got in Bonni's class. I will start with it today. Something you would enjoy too I think! When your hand is better of course. I hope you're healing well!

  2. I forgot to ask... How do you polish all your sterling silver miniatures?

It is the biggest reason I don't make more for silver for myself. Polishing it with a (cotton) Q-tip is such a pain. I use Hagerty's Silver Foam. It is sort of a rouge paste. If I am lazy, I throw it all in the tumbler.

    1. In the tumbler? Tsss Catherine! LOL. I don't have to polish my silver very often, I think I do it about twice a year or so. I just take all of my silver pieces out, then put on two silver polishing gloves (they have some silver polish stuff on them already, but sometimes I use a little extra silver polish) and polish them. I never use Q-tips, just fingers and nails in the gloves. After the polish I rinse them in water, dry them with a cotton cloth and sometimes give them a quick extra buff.
I used to have Hagerty silver dip, but I knocked the tub over and spilt it and I don't think that it's sold any more. That worked fantastically well, but I did always rinse, rinse, rinse to make sure none of the active ingredient would remain on my silver.

  7. Hi Josje! It is pictures like these that make me want to Drool and Weep! I know that sounds terrible! They are so beautifully perfect and GORGEOUS!!! Every detail is Perfection! And so prettily displayed! You are a masterful collector as well as a fantastic miniaturist! Your own creations as well as the other artisans combine to create a scene that is so realistic, I had to look again and again! WOW! Yes, I am weeping at the Beauty and Perfection! Happy Christmas!

    1. Oh Betsy you are so sweet! Thank you. Well I must say I enjoy both the collecting and the making. Although I sometimes like my own finished work, it often doesn't give me that wonderment and curiosity that other people's work can give me. Probably because I know the whole process of making it. ;-) The combination of the two does give me that fascination again.
Now dry your tears ;-) Have a wonderful Christmas!

  8. Such a beautiful cabinet and the drawer pulls are amazing. Your decor is beautifully arranged, great photos! Did you make the tulips? They are so beautiful and life-like.

    1. Oh yes those drawer pulls are pretty fantastic aren't they? Something I aspire to making...one day. Ha, I think I have things I want to make until I am 120. And new things are added every day ;-)
Yes I made the tulips years ago. They were part of a bunch I made to go into the Delft blue tulip vase I got from Henny Staring Egberts.
      Thank you Shannon!

  9. Oooh I also want to know about the tulips. They are beautiful. I suppose you painted them.

    1. Thank you Catherine. Yes I painted them with water colors. I think I made them with printing paper, if I remember correctly. You can't see them here, but inside the flower there are stigma and stamens.
I have always liked these kinds of tulips. I should plant loads of them in my garden, but I keep forgetting. I am too late again for next spring...

    1. A few years ago you mean? I intended to go back to their table this time and did quickly say hi to him in passing, but as always I ran out of time and didn't talk to him or saw what he had on his table.
Happy Holidays to you and yours too!

  18. Hello Josje, not sure if I have commented before, maybe still reeling from the sheer amazingness of all you work! I decided a year ago after years of loving dolls houses, to make my own and decided as my first project to copy an existing National Trust house and all it's furniture! I was truly naive but I am still going. I had to make the fireplaces and doors before the actual house to cut openings so that's still on the books. I made chairs and assembled kits and purchased a LOT of miniatures but on seeing your work I think that I am mad! I know that different 'houses' do not compare but know that you are at the top of the tree that I am climbing, oh so slowly! When I am Advanced enough I will blog about it all. Best wishes from France Stephanie

    1. Thank you Stephanie! Well maybe you jumped in with both feet at the same time, but I think that is a great way to do it. It is all about doing something you enjoy.
It sounds like a wonderful project which will keep you busy for a long time. It is fantastic that you're all making it yourself! Keep doing that! Research, experiment, discover, have fun. I would love to see your journey and follow the build of your house. Let me know when you have created a blog!

    2. PS Sorry it has taken me so long to answer...I have been very busy with something else. I will blog about that later.
